Jefferson Award: Gail Siegel, President of ForWords, was the recipient of a Jefferson Award. This is a national award given to individuals who are serving their communities in various capacities. New Grants: ForWords received grants from the Marin Community Foundation and the Amini Foundation for the Study of Affect to produce a documentary film about gender roles. This film will be researched, written, filmed, and produced by 35 middle and high school students from the Youth Scholarship Program at the Canal Alliance in collaboration with ForWords. Working with the youth for this project ForWords has both Bay Area Writing Project Teacher Consultants and artist-in-residence, film maker Peter Bratt, multi-media specialist Will Hammond, Jr., and actress/drama coach Lauren Hanover.

A percent of the evenings' profits are donated to a local charity, and Forwords has been featured four times in recent years. The Marin Airporter buses transported 120 students and parents to learn about the Olmec Exhibit from Mexico.
